Top Casino Providers Suspend Games on Stake.us for California Users

California’s recent lawsuit involving Stake.us and several gaming partners has caused major game providers to withdraw their titles for players in the state.

Stake.us news bannerCalifornia’s recent lawsuit involving Stake.us and several gaming partners has caused major game providers to withdraw their titles for players in the state.

Eleven vendors, including Pragmatic Play, Evolution, NetEnt, Red Tiger, Big Time Gaming, and No Limit City, have pulled their games from Stake.us in California, with further exits expected from Hacksaw Gaming. While most restrictions are limited to California, Pragmatic Play and Fat Panda have exited the U.S. sweepstakes casino market entirely, and providers like Playtech and Skywind have removed games nationwide.

The civil suit, filed August 28 in Los Angeles County, marks the first state-led action targeting a sweepstakes casino operator and its partners. It seeks injunctions, civil penalties, and restitution, bypassing arbitration clauses that previously shielded operators from private claims. Vendors not named in the lawsuit, such as Booming Games and Live88, have also removed titles to avoid added legal risk.

The developments come as California lawmakers move forward with Assembly Bill 831, which would formally ban sweepstakes casinos across the state. Given that California accounts for nearly 20% of U.S. sweeps gaming revenue, these proposals indicate a significant shift in legal oversight, game availability, and broader market conditions.
